Summary, etc. |
This book is a Reader on violence against women and their children from known men. The aim is to present the way in which violence against women is theorised, and how research and activism have led to a gradual shift in understanding and responses to women who are abused and the men who abuse them, including diversities of race, class and ethnicity. Research provides evidence for change, it is formative in the development of theory and practice and underpins the implementation and evaluation of change programmes. This Reader has gathered evidence-based material domestrating how feminist and feminist-influenced research, alongside women's demands for change and the provision of alternative services, assist the incorporation into Government policy of feminist ideas and responses to violence against women and their children. What remains to be done is identified and based on what is known about men's violence. ... - Introduction. |
