This book is about trauma in a select population, older people. This is important because this group is usually given short shrift because of certain convictions about age, as well as excessive emphasis on specific trauma-related techniques. In fact, the older group is complex when it comes to trauma. There is much to be exported about older people from knowledge of earlier ages, and there is much that is not. Our basic belief is that the human change process is highly individualized at later life but certainly understandable within an integrated formulation of the person. - Back cover. |
