James Dean plays Cal, a wayward Salinas Valley youth who vies for the affection of his hardened father with his favored brother Aron.
California before WWI. Vying for the affection of his hardened father, an intelligent yet wayward young farmer was determined to hurt the feeling of his more favored twin brother. In his frantic attempt, he disclosed the fact that their thought-to-be-dead mother was in fact playing harlot somewhere. The news eventually ruined the family.
